How to remove typeset division numbers
Version: 2.5, 3.x, 4.x, 5.x - Scientific WorkPlace & Scientific
Word
Occasionally, you may need to remove the number of a
division heading:
- If you're using Version 4.0 or later,
- Place the insertion point at the beginning of the heading.
- Choose Properties.
- In the Section Properties dialog, check
Unnumbered.
- Choose OK.
or
- If you're using an earlier version,
- Place the insertion point where you want the heading to appear.
- Enter an encapsulated TeX field.
- In the entry area, type \division*{Name} where
division is the level of the heading and
Name is the name of the division as you want it to
appear.
- Choose OK.
- Delete the original heading.
LaTeX ignores unnumbered divisions when it creates page headers. Thus, if you
create an unnumbered appendix, the page headers on the appendix pages reflect
the name of the previous division heading rather than the appendix.
You can also remove or extend typeset division numbers for the whole document.
