Error: No version of MuPAD VCam registered on this system

Version: 4.x & 5.x - Scientific WorkPlace & Scientific Notebook

Problem

Starting SWP or SNB or switching to the MuPAD computational engine causes the program to display this message:

No version of MuPAD VCam registered on this system.

MuPAD cannot be used.

Explanation

The MuPAD computational engine must be registered as a Windows program before SWP or SNB can use it. This registration normally happens during installation. However, occasionally MuPAD is not registered or becomes unregistered.

Solution

Follow these steps to register the MuPAD computational engine with Windows:

  1. If SWP or SNB is currently running, exit the program.

  2. Start Windows Explorer and view the directory MuPAD\bin, in which the program is installed.

  3. Double-click on the file UnregMuPAD.bat.

A command prompt window opens and immediately closes. This step unregisters the MuPAD engine.

  4. Double-click on the file RegMuPAD.bat.

Again, a command prompt window opens and immediately closes. This step registers the MuPAD engine.

  5. Start SWP or SNB.

  6. From the Tools menu, choose Computation Setup and then select the Current Engine tab.

  7. If MuPAD is not already selected, select MuPAD as the current engine and then choose OK.

MuPAD is now available for computations.
