Avoiding common LaTeX errors
Version: 3.x, 4.x, 5.x - Scientific WorkPlace & Scientific
Word
LaTeX may not compile your document if it contains certain constructions, even
though the constructions are legal in SWP and
SW. We suggest that you avoid LaTeX errors by
following these guidelines:
-
Avoid placing a display in a chapter or section heading.
-
Avoid including in your document a blank line containing only a
Shift+Enter.
-
Avoid including a graphic in a chapter or section heading if the graphic has a
caption.
-
Avoid including a hyperlink to a website in a chapter or section heading.
-
Avoid putting a \newline command on a line by
itself. The command is created by choosing
Insert, then
Spacing, Break,
and Newline.
-
Avoid including spaces or a single quote in the names of graphic images.
-
Avoid placing a period in a file name, other than the period immediately
preceding the file extension.
