Resolving unmatched cross-references
Version: 2.x, 3.x, 4.x, 5.x - Scientific WorkPlace & Scientific
Word
You can quickly determine whether all cross-references in your typeset
document have been matched to a marker by looking at the document
.log file. Unmatched cross-references result from
missing or misreferenced markers.
-
Place markers and cross-references in the document as necessary.
-
From the File menu, choose
Save.
-
From the Typeset menu, choose Compile
or Compile PDF.
-
When the compilation is complete, open the .log file with an ASCII editor,
such as Notepad.
-
Scroll to the end of the file.
If any cross-references are unresolved, a message like this will appear near
the end of the log file:
LaTeX
Warning: There were undefined references.
-
If unresolved cross-references exist, scroll the .log file for additional
warnings indicating missing markers.
The warnings will look something like this:
LaTeX
Warning: Reference `markerx' on page 4 undefined on input line 205.
-
In SWP or SW, insert missing markers and correct marker misreferences.
-
Save and typeset the document again.
-
Check the new .log file to make certain all cross-references are now resolved.
