TeX fonts for mathematics

Version: 3.0 - Scientific WorkPlace & Scientific Word

The crafting of TeX mathematics fonts is very detailed and time-consuming, due to the precise spacing and size of many of the characters, particularly those that are pieces used to build larger symbols (such as radical signs and expanding brackets). Consequently, few such font choices are available. The mathematics sets include cm, mathtime, lucida, and euler.

V3.0 includes the fonts for cm (the default), mathtime, and euler. You can choose mathtime or euler instead of using the default cm fonts. You can get the flavor of the different euler mathematics fonts by opening the V3.0 file called checkout.tex, saving it under another name, and then adding the appropriate package.

  • To choose mathtime:

  1. From the Typeset menu, choose Options and Packages.

  2. Choose Package Options.

  3. Choose Add, scroll the list to select the mathtime package, and choose OK.

  4. Choose Modify, choose the noTS1 option, and choose OK. (Without the noTS1 option, you may get a LaTeX error when you compile your document.)

  5. Choose OK.

  • To choose euler:

  1. From the Typeset menu, choose Options and Packages.

  2. Choose Package Options.

  3. Choose Add, scroll the list to select the euler package, and choose OK.

  4. Choose OK.
