Document 242 Underscores in file namesVersion: 3.x, 4.x, 5.x - Scientific WorkPlace & Scientific Word Underscores in file names can cause problems when you try to typeset preview with some versions of TeX. Therefore, we try to be as conservative as possible with these names so that we don't encourage the use of file names that won't port to all systems. If you try to typeset preview a document has an underscore in its name, the program displays a message saying that invalid characters appear in the path or file name and asking whether you want to continue or not. If you choose Yes to continue, everything seems to work as it should, but you should be aware that the names can cause problems on some systems. We don't insist on DOS 8.3 names, but they seem to be the most fully portable TeX file names. See also Last revised 05/11/06 This document was created with Scientific WorkPlace. |
