How to get boldface calligraphic in equations
Version: 3.x, 4.x, 5.x - Scientific WorkPlace, Scientific Word, & Scientific
Notebook
Because calligraphic characters are intended for use in mathematics rather
than text, nesting text tags as suggested in the user manual doesn't work in
this case. However, you can achieve bold calligraphic characters in
mathematics by inserting commands in a TeX field according to these
instructions:
-
Place the insertion point where you want the bold calligraphic characters to
appear.
-
Click the Text/Math button so that it appears as M, or, from the
Insert menu, choose
Math.
-
Enter a TeX field:
-
In Version 4.1 and later: from the Insert menu, choose
Typeset Object and then choose
Tex.
-
In Version 4.0 and earlier: from the Insert menu, choose
Field and then choose
TeX.Field.
-
In the input box, enter \boldsymbol{\mathcal{A}}
where A is the information you want to appear in a
bold calligraphic font. Remember to use capital letters for the bold
calligraphic information.
-
Choose OK. A gray box labeled
TeX field will appear in your document.
-
From the Typeset menu, choose
Preview to see that the information is presented
correctly.
