How to print a double-sided LaTeX document

Version: 3.x - Scientific WorkPlace & Scientific Word

You can print a double-sided LaTeX document on an HP LaserJet 4+ printer by first printing the odd-numbered pages, then reinserting those pages into the printer and printing the even-numbered pages in reverse order. Here's how to do it:

  1. Print the odd-numbered pages in numerical order:

    1. From the Typeset menu, choose Print.

    2. In the Print Range area of the dialog, check Pages.

    3. In the From area, enter 1.

    4. In the Step area, enter 2.

    5. Choose OK. The odd-numbered pages will print in numerical order.

    6. Reinsert the pages into the printer so that the printer will print on the back of the pages.

  2. Change the Expert Settings for typesetting:

    1. From the Typeset menu, choose Expert Settings.

    2. Choose the Print Driver Settings tab.

    3. Choose Add/Modify.

    4. In the Values of Optional Macros area, find %r: if reverse order and change b to -b.

    5. Find %r: if normal order and delete the contents.

    6. Choose OK.

    7. Choose OK to return to the document.

  3. Print the even-numbered pages in reverse order:

    1. From the Typeset menu, choose Print.

    2. In the Print Range area of the dialog, check Pages.

    3. In the From area, enter 2.

    4. In the Step area, enter 2.

    5. Check the box for Print in Reverse Order.

    6. Choose OK. The even-numbered pages will print in reverse order.
