Message: Windows95 MultiLanguage Support is not installed

Version: 3.0 - Scientific WorkPlace & Scientific Word

Problem

Despite choosing the Multilingual LaTeX option when installing Version 3.0 on a Windows 95 system, this error message appears before the installation is complete:

Windows95 Multilanguage Support is not installed. Characters may not appear properly. Please look up the topic FONTS in the online help.

Explanation

The Multilingual LaTeX installation option is not the same as Windows95 Multilanguage Support. If you are a Windows 95 user and you want to use the times and mathtime packages and also want to be able to preview your typeset document, you must have Windows 95 Multilanguage Support. Without it, ligatures won't appear properly when you preview or print. (That is, words like first, flow, and difficult will be missing the fi, fl, and ffi, respectively.)

Solution

You can find multilanguage support on your Microsoft Win95 CD or on the Microsoft web site. See Installing Win95 Multilanguage Support for further help.

The SWP/SW Help system has more information about fonts. From the Help menu, choose Search, then choose Fonts, and then view the topic Correcting font installation problems.
