Less than or equal character Math: less than or equal does not print properly

Version: 3.x - Scientific WorkPlace & Scientific Word

Problem

The less than or equal character Math: less than or equal and some other characters do not appear correctly after selecting Typeset/Print. The characters are correct in the SWP/SW edit windows and also when using Typeset/Preview.

Explanation

When you select Print from the Typeset menu, SWP/SW starts the TrueTeX Previewer, which sends print commands to the print driver. The printer driver makes decisions as to what characters to use and from which fonts. In this case, it appears that the print driver selects a character from the printer font, but the less than or equal character does not appear in the correct location in the printer font and an incorrect or empty character appears in the printout.

Solution

Change the print driver settings.

If you are using Windows 95 or Windows 98:

  1. From the Windows Start menu, choose Settings and then Printers.

  2. Right click the printer icon and select Properties.

If you are using Windows NT 4.0:

  1. In SWP/SW, from the Typeset menu, choose Preview.

  2. From the File menu in the Previewer, choose Print and click the Properties button. This displays the Properties dialog for the print driver. The information that appears in the dialog depends on the print driver that is installed.

  3. If you're using a Hewlett-Packard LaserJet printer:

    1. Choose the Fonts tab.

    2. Select Print Fonts as Graphics.

  4. If you're using a Xerox DocuPrint P8 print driver:

    1. Select the Advanced tab.

    2. Look in the Font group to find entries for TrueType and Adobe Type Manager.

    3. Make sure both entries are turned off so the fonts will be handled as graphics.
