Differences in installation options

Version: 5.x - Scientific WorkPlace, Scientific Word, & Scientific Notebook

When you install the program on your personal computer, you can perform a complete, typical, or custom installation to place the program on your hard drive, or you can install the program to run from the program CD. We recommend either a complete or a typical installation.

  • A complete installation installs all possible program options.
  • A typical installation installs the programs, their support files, and the Help files. In SWP and SW, the BibDB program, T3 conversion program, and Omega support files are not installed.
  • A custom installation installs only those options you select.
  • A CD-ROM installation works largely from the CD. It is useful if disk space is extremely limited.

If you are working in a network environment, please contact your system administrator for installation options.
