Character sets

Version: 5.5 - Scientific WorkPlace & Scientific Word

A character set, also called a code page, is a collection of characters, each of which is assigned a numeric code so that it can be represented on a computer.

  • The Save As dialog box indicates the character set with which your document will be saved.

  • The Expert Settings dialog box indicates which character set is in use for the TeX or pdfTeX formatter you have selected.

In both cases, the default character set for SWP, SW, and SNB is ASCII (Normal). Most TeX and pdfTeX formatters that can be used by the program use the default character set.

NoteDo not change the setting unless you are using a formatter that requires a different character set. In particular, you must use the default ASCII (Normal) setting if your document uses the inputenc package or you are typesetting with the Lambda system.
