How to get the symbol for real numbers

Version: 3.x, 4.x, 5.x - Scientific WorkPlace, Scientific Word & Scientific Notebook

The symbol Symbol for real numbers, which represents the real numbers, is available in SWP and SW:

  1. Click the Math/Text button on the Standard toolbar or, from the Insert menu, choose Math.

  2. From the Text Tag popup list, choose Blackboard bold.

    If Blackboard bold is not available on the popup list, then start a new document. Use a different shell document, one that uses a screen style file containing the Blackboard bold text tag.

  3. Type R.

Also, in Version 4 and later, the symbol Symbol for real numbersis available from the Miscellaneous Symbols panel of the Symbol toolbar. The appearance of the two symbols differs slightly on the screen, but when you typeset, both symbols appear as Symbol for real numbers.

If you have Version 4 or later of SNB, you can obtain the symbol Symbol for real numbers from the Miscellaneous Symbols panel of the Symbol toolbar. However, the Blackboard bold text tag is not available in SNB. You can also obtain the real number symbol and several other Blackboard bold symbols that can be used in SNB by downloading the document RealNumberSymbolsSN30.tex.
